For many people, a visit to the GP doesn’t end with a prescription. Instead, it ends with a referral for further investigation. Whether it’s ongoing back pain, a sporting injury, a suspected fracture, routine breast screening, or the investigation of unexplained symptoms, diagnostic imaging is often the next step in helping doctors understand what’s happening to determine the most appropriate treatment.
From 1 July, residents across Brisbane’s northside will have another option when that referral arrives, with RRD Imaging opening a comprehensive diagnostic imaging clinic at The Village Carseldine.
The new clinic marks another milestone in the continued development of The Village as a growing community precinct. Originally envisioned as more than a retail destination, the master-planned development continues to expand its mix of residential, commercial and essential community services, with healthcare now becoming an increasingly important part of the precinct.
A growing community needs growing healthcare services
As communities evolve, so too does the need for accessible healthcare closer to where people live. The Village has progressively developed into a destination that combines shopping, dining and everyday services, and the addition of diagnostic imaging reflects that broader vision of creating a community where residents can access more of their daily needs without travelling further afield.

For patients across Carseldine, Aspley, Albany Creek, Bracken Ridge and surrounding suburbs, the opening provides another local option for GP and specialist-referred imaging.
The Carseldine clinic brings together a full suite of services under one roof, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, mammography, bone density (DEXA), orthopantomogram (OPG) and cone beam CT (CBCT) imaging.
Understanding what happens after your referral
For many patients, being told they need a scan can raise just as many questions as it answers: What type of scan do I need? Where do I book? Will Medicare cover the cost? How long will I wait?
While different imaging examinations serve different purposes, they all play an important role in helping doctors investigate injuries, illnesses and ongoing health conditions. Once completed, scans are reviewed by specialist radiologists before reports are sent back to the referring GP or specialist, who discusses the results and any next steps with the patient.

Advanced imaging technology arrives in Carseldine
RRD Imaging says it aims to make that process as straightforward as possible.
According to RRD Imaging’s lead radiologist, the new clinic has been purpose-built to provide advanced diagnostic imaging services closer to home.
“RRD Imaging Carseldine has been purpose-built to provide residents of Brisbane’s northside with access to advanced diagnostic imaging technology comparable to that available in major metropolitan hospitals. Our equipment delivers exceptional image quality while incorporating features designed to improve patient comfort, reduce scan times, and support more accurate diagnoses.”
The clinic has been designed to offer a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging services within one location, allowing patients and referring practitioners to access MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, mammography, bone density scanning and dental imaging without needing to attend multiple facilities.
“By bringing these services together in a modern, community-based setting, patients and referring practitioners can access high-quality diagnostic care closer to home without the need to travel significant distances.”

Affordability and timely access remain a priority
Beyond the technology, RRD Imaging says affordability and access have been central considerations in establishing the new clinic.
“At RRD Imaging, we are committed to making high-quality diagnostic imaging accessible, affordable and convenient for the community. We will bulk bill the vast majority of Medicare-eligible examinations where clinically appropriate.”
“For services that attract a gap payment, patients can generally expect out-of-pocket costs ranging from approximately $20 to $150 depending on the examination type, with many services remaining fully bulk billed. Our team always provides fee information upfront, ensuring there are no surprises.”
The clinic also aims to offer same-day or next-day appointments for most examinations where possible.
“We also understand that timely access to diagnostic imaging is critical for patient care. Delays in imaging can result in delays to diagnosis and treatment. For this reason, our goal is to offer same-day or next-day appointments for most examinations wherever possible, helping to minimise wait times and enabling referring practitioners to make treatment decisions sooner.”

Another piece of the healthcare puzzle for Brisbane’s northside
While Brisbane’s northside is already home to some established diagnostic imaging providers, the new clinic gives residents another local choice when referred for medical imaging by their doctor. Thus, access to a broader range of nearby healthcare services will continue to play an important role in supporting the needs of the growing community.
RRD Imaging Carseldine officially opens on 1 July at Level 1, The Village, 520 Beams Road, offering MRI, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, mammography, DEXA, OPG and CBCT services through GP and specialist referral.
