The event, a thrilling follow-up to a historic weekend of athletics in Brisbane, saw schools battling for every point. Nudgee College demonstrated remarkable strength and depth in the highly competitive Intermediate Boys category, ultimately finishing with 187 points. This placed them just behind Ipswich Grammar School, who took home the title with 193 points.

The competition witnessed a display of both teamwork and individual talent. Standout performances included Mason McGroder from Trinity Grammar School, who dominated the Intermediate Boys Long Jump with a 7.18m leap. McGroder, a World Under 20 bronze medalist, also impressed in the 100m and 200m sprints and anchored his school’s Sprint Medley Relay team to victory.

Each of the five studios pays homage to prominent sixties figures, including Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Elvis Presley. The “Presley Room” even features a private courtyard and outdoor area. The shared kitchen showcases a prominent feature wall covered in 1960s psychedelic wallpaper imported from Sweden. The property’s desert-inspired landscaping and bright orange front door enhance the lively atmosphere.

Each air-conditioned studio comes fully furnished with retro-inspired furniture, such as arc lamps and colourful chaise lounges, alongside modern conveniences like a kitchenette with appliances, an ensuite bathroom, two large smart TVs, and an espresso machine. The property listing clearly states that the studios are exclusively for single individuals, following local council regulations.

The property manager noted increased demand for this type of accommodation among young professionals, fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) workers, and individuals relocating to the area. The three-day championship event at Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre featured Turner showcasing his exceptional racing talent. On Friday, 6 December, Turner earned silver in the under-15 800m final with an impressive time of 1:56.43, finishing just behind fellow Queenslander Tate Van Camp, who crossed the line at 1:55.01.

Two days later, Turner returned to the track for the under-15 1500m final. In a thrilling push to the finish line, the Nudgee College athlete secured gold with a superb time of 4:17.87, outpacing Queensland teammate Saul Ackfield Kennard by more than three seconds.
