Numerous significant events have occurred along their journey, such as a popular HBO variety series in 1999, a platinum-certified debut album in 2001, and the cult classic movie Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny in 2006.

The band’s 2012 release, Rize of the Fenix, earned them a GRAMMY® nomination for ‘Best Comedy Album,’ and in 2014, they clinched their first win for ‘Best Metal Performance.’ Demonstrating their versatility, Black and Gass launched Los Angeles’ Festival Supreme in 2013, featuring a mix of music and comedy with big names like Adam Sandler and Sarah Silverman.
In 2018, Tenacious D showcased their creative prowess with the animated film Tenacious D in Post-Apocalypto, with Black hand-drawing each frame and the band providing voices and an accompanying soundtrack. In 2020, a graphic novel will further enhance this project.
