In a remarkable display of athletic prowess at the 2024 Australian All Schools Athletics Championships, Nudgee College’s Matthew Turner has emerged as one of Queensland’s brightest middle-distance running prospects, claiming gold and silver medals across two challenging events.

The three-day championship event at Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre featured Turner showcasing his exceptional racing talent. On Friday, 6 December, Turner earned silver in the under-15 800m final with an impressive time of 1:56.43, finishing just behind fellow Queenslander Tate Van Camp, who crossed the line at 1:55.01.
Two days later, Turner returned to the track for the under-15 1500m final. In a thrilling push to the finish line, the Nudgee College athlete secured gold with a superb time of 4:17.87, outpacing Queensland teammate Saul Ackfield Kennard by more than three seconds.
